Ro-Ro system requires a number of special facilities that ensure weather tightness. Over the years, many kinds of hydraulically operated system designs have been developed and produced. SMS can service the shipbuilders with a lot of experience and skill.
SMS has specialized in designing, and manufacturing cargo access equipment for Ro-Ro car carriers, passenger ferries and navy ships. The line of products includes bow ramps & doors, stern ramps& doors, inner bulkhead doors, two-way titable ramps, side&end hinged ramp covers, hoist-able car decks& ramps, lift-able car decks.
Bow Ramp & Door
Bow doors open parallel to side shell or upwards. Bow ramps act as a corrosion bulkhead door in case of detachable type. For conventional type, another corrosion inner bulkhead door is to be considered. Automatic control includes sequential operation by P.L.C. ( Programmable Logic Controllers) and/or manual control. Bridge indication is provided for the door in a closed/locked condition.
Stern Ramp & Door
The ramp is operated by direct acting hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic linkages. In a closed position, the ramp/door section is locked to the hull by hydraulically operated securing devices.
Side Ramp & Door
Two or three leveled side ramps allow convenient cargo handling under various ship draughts and port conditions. It is operated by hydraulic winches and working levels can be adjusted through jigger winches.
Internal Ramp & Car Deck
SMS has specialized in the design of inner ramps for Ro-Ro ferry and especially developed thin car deck system which is up to dated car deck/ramp application in Ro-Ro passenger ferries. The thin car decks can offer increased stability and reduction in the ship¡¯s weight, thus allowing the shipyard and owner to have an optimized ship design. Standard modular systems also offer easy installation, minimal maintenance and cost saving.
